Overview

Acmaeops

*Acmaeops* LeConte, 1850 is a small, elegantly tapered longhorn beetle of boreal and montane conifer forests, reaching from northern and central Europe eastward through Siberia. Adults are conspicuous flower visitors, frequenting Apiaceae and Rosaceae blooms along forest margins and clearings during summer months. Larvae develop in dead or fire-damaged conifers — principally *Picea* and *Pinus* — feeding beneath the bark and in roots, with a development cycle spanning two to four years. The genus is represented by three species in Europe.
