Overview

Crotchiella

*Crotchiella* Vitali, 2014 is a small, monotypic genus endemic to Sardinia, representing one of the most geographically restricted longhorn beetle lineages in the western Palaearctic. Adults measure 8–14 mm and display variable coloration, lending them a distinctive appearance among Mediterranean cerambycids. The genus is associated exclusively with *Quercus*, where larvae develop subcortically and into the wood of dead or dying trees. Extremely rare in collections, it is encountered most reliably at fresh deadwood sites between sea level and 600 m altitude.
