*Encyclops* Newman, 1838 is a small to medium-sized longhorn genus whose slender, tapering beetles measure 7–12 mm and often display striking, variable coloration. Adults are diurnal and strong fliers, drawn to flowers of Apiaceae and Rosaceae at forest edges and woodland clearings from May to August. Larvae develop slowly over two to four years in the decaying wood of dead or dying branches of deciduous trees, particularly *Acer* and *Tilia*. The genus has a notable Holarctic distribution, occurring across North America and East Asia as well as the western Palaearctic, from lowlands up to 1,500 m elevation.
