Overview
Herophila
*Herophila* Mulsant, 1863 is a small Mediterranean genus of robust, cylindrical longhorn beetles, with 8 species known from the Palaearctic and 3 from Europe. Adults are nocturnal and are most readily encountered on or beneath the bark of host trees, particularly fig, mulberry, and oak, during their summer flight season from May to August. Larvae develop subcortically before entering the sapwood, completing their life cycle over two to three years. The group is restricted to the Mediterranean basin, ranging from southern Europe through North Africa to Turkey.
