Overview

Judolia

*Judolia* Mulsant, 1863 comprises small to medium longhorn beetles (8–16 mm) with a characteristically tapered body, often strikingly patterned in yellow or red with dark markings. Adults are conspicuous flower visitors, appearing on Apiaceae and Rosaceae blooms from June to August along forest edges and clearings. Larvae develop over approximately two years in decaying roots and basal wood of dead or dying trees, with females depositing eggs on stout roots and the lower trunk bases of host trees. The genus is distributed across Europe, Siberia, and East Asia, with 5 Palaearctic and 2 European species.
