Overview

Polyzonus

*Polyzonus* Fairmaire, 1886 is a small genus of medium-sized longhorn beetles, 12–25 mm in length, found primarily across North Africa and reaching the margins of the West Palaearctic region. Adults are notably variable in coloration, often displaying patterned elytra, and are strong fliers active between May and August. Larvae develop in dead or dying Quercus, progressing from subcortical galleries into the wood over one to three years. Adults may be observed on fresh dead wood, at flowers, or attracted to UV light.
