Overview
Prionoblemma
*Prionoblemma* [auct., verify] is a robust, large-bodied longhorn beetle of the subfamily Prioninae, reaching 15–28 mm and unmistakable in its dark, flattened build. Found in subtropical broadleaf forests of southern China, adults are nocturnal and strongly attracted to UV light, emerging from June through September. Larvae develop deep within dead or dying wood of various broadleaf trees, with a prolonged larval cycle of two to five years. The genus is monotypic, making any encounter with its sole species a notable event for collectors.
