Overview

Asaperda

*Asaperda* Bateson, 1863 is a small genus of Lamiinae (tribe Acanthocinini) associated with broadleaf trees of the family Betulaceae, principally hazel (*Corylus*) and hornbeam (*Carpinus*). Adults are compact, cylindrical beetles of 5–12 mm, clothed in dense, cryptic pubescence that renders them difficult to detect on bark. The genus is distributed across East Asia, ranging from Japan into eastern Siberia, where adults may be found on host stems or beneath bark from May to August.
