*Brachyta* Fairmaire, 1864 is a small group of robust, brightly coloured longhorn beetles of montane and boreal Europe and Asia, where adults are conspicuous visitors to flowers of Apiaceae and Rosaceae on mountain meadows and forest margins. With only two species recorded from Europe and five across the western Palaearctic, the genus is nonetheless notable for the striking variability of its elytral patterning — a character reflected in the name of the type species, *B. interrogationis*. Larvae develop in soil, feeding on the roots of herbaceous plants, with females depositing eggs around the bases of host roots; up to 27 larvae have been reported from a single root system.
