Overview

Daramus

*Daramus* Fairmaire, 1886 is a small genus of medium-sized cerambycids, 10–20 mm in body length, associated with the arid and semi-arid landscapes of North Africa, Turkey, and Iran. Adults are variable in coloration and are encountered on dead or dying wood of *Quercus* and *Pistacia*, often detected at UV light or on freshly felled timber. Larvae develop subcortically before penetrating the wood, with development spanning one to three years depending on conditions. The genus reaches only the southern and eastern margins of the Palaearctic region.
