Overview

Hologaster

*Hologaster* Blanchard, 1851 is a Neotropical longhorn genus known in the West Palaearctic only through occasional interceptions, typically associated with imported tropical timber rather than any established wild population. Adults are small to medium-sized beetles (6–14 mm) of elongate-cylindrical build, showing variable coloration that frequently produces striking patterned appearances. Larvae develop subcortically before entering sapwood of dead or dying host material, with development spanning one to three years depending on conditions. The genus has not established itself anywhere in the Palaearctic region.
