Overview
Hoplocerambyx
*Hoplocerambyx* Thomson, 1864 encompasses large, elongate-cylindrical longhorn beetles reaching 30–62 mm, associated primarily with Dipterocarpaceae forests across South and Southeast Asia. The genus is best known as a devastating pest of sal (*Shorea robusta*), capable of killing mature trees across vast tracts of Indian forest. Adults are strong fliers, attracted to freshly dead wood and UV light, active mainly between May and August. Though principally an Oriental genus, it extends marginally into the southern Palearctic region of South China.
