Overview

Icosium

*Icosium* Lucas, 1854 is a small genus of three Palaearctic species, with a single representative reaching Europe, inhabiting the western Mediterranean basin from southern Europe across North Africa. These medium-sized longhorn beetles (10–18 mm) are nocturnal in habit, emerging during the warm months from June to September and readily attracted to ultraviolet light. The larvae develop subcortically and into the wood of dead or dying *Quercus*, requiring one to two years to complete development. Adults are anthophilous, visiting flowers for pollen and feeding on bark or sap.
