Overview

Iranocoptosia

*Iranocoptosia* Breuning, 1962 is a small longhorn genus confined to Iran, inhabiting dry grasslands and steppe habitats between 500 and 2000 m elevation. Adults are compact and robustly built, with dense cryptic pubescence that renders them difficult to detect among dried herb stems. Flight activity spans May to August, with adults feeding on bark, shoots, and leaves during daylight hours. Larvae develop within herb stems over one to three years, making the genus an unusual associate of herbaceous vegetation within Lamiinae.
