Overview

Mallosiola

*Mallosiola* Sama, 1995 is a small laminid genus of robust, densely pubescent longhorn beetles confined to Turkey and the Caucasus, where adults are encountered on or near their host umbellifers from May to August. Measuring 6–14 mm, these cryptically coloured beetles blend effectively into dried stems and foliage of Apiaceae. Larvae develop inside the stems of dead or dying herbaceous plants over one to three years, making the genus a characteristic element of montane herbaceous communities at 500–2000 m elevation.
