*Molorchus* Fabricius, 1793 is one of the most visually distinctive longhorn genera of the West Palaearctic, instantly recognisable by its dramatically abbreviated elytra that leave the folded membranous hindwings exposed, lending the insect a striking wasp-like silhouette. This Batesian mimicry is reinforced by the elongate, narrow body and variable, often patterned coloration. Adults are conspicuously anthophilous, congregating on blossom of *Crataegus* and *Prunus* from May to July, while larvae develop subcortically in dead or dying branches and thin trunks, typically 3–12 cm in diameter.
