Overview

Neoplagionotus

*Neoplagionotus* is a small genus of longhorn beetles distributed across eastern Europe, Turkey, and central Asia, associated with dry steppe and semi-arid habitats. Measuring 8–18 mm, these elongate-cylindrical beetles are closely tied to dead and dying *Quercus*, where larvae develop subcortically before entering the wood. Adults are active from May to August and are attracted to freshly cut or dead timber as well as UV light. The genus was separated from *Plagionotus* by Kasatkin in 2005 and currently comprises three species in the West Palaearctic.
