Overview
Niphona
Niphona Dejean, 1835 is a small to medium-sized longhorn beetle (8–18 mm) belonging to the tribe Pteropliini within subfamily Lamiinae, with 5 species recorded from the Palaearctic and 7 from Europe. The genus is centred in East and Southeast Asia, ranging across China, Japan, and adjacent regions, where adults are found on or beneath the bark of host trees in the Moraceae family, primarily Ficus and Morus. Adults fly from May to August and are active by day, typically encountered on living or recently dead host stems. The dense, cryptic pubescence renders individuals highly camouflaged against bark, making field detection challenging.
