Overview
Oxypleurus
*Oxypleurus* Mulsant, 1839 is a small Mediterranean genus of cylindrical, dark-bodied longhorn beetles confined to coniferous habitats across southern Europe and North Africa. Adults are nocturnal and associated with dead or dying Pinus, emerging in the warmer months between May and August. Larvae develop slowly in the sapwood of host trees, completing their cycle over two to four years. The genus is uncommon throughout its range and presents little economic significance.
