Overview

Pronocera

*Pronocera* Motschulsky, 1860 is a small genus of boreal cerambycids associated with conifers across the eastern Palaearctic, where adults are active from May to August. Larvae develop subcortically before entering the wood of weakened or dying Picea and Abies, often in trees already attacked by bark beetles such as *Polygraphus poligraphus* or infected by the fungus *Armillaria ostoyae*. Development in slender branches and treetops of 3–6 cm diameter typically extends over one to three years. Adults are attracted to fresh dead wood and may be observed by UV light trapping.
