Overview

Quasimesosella

*Quasimesosella* Breuning, 1963 is a small, monotypic genus of Lamiinae (tribe Mesosini) whose single species inhabits Japan, where adults are found from May to August at elevations up to 800 m. The beetles are compact and cylindrical, 5–10 mm long, and clothed in dense, cryptic pubescence that provides effective camouflage against bark. Larvae develop subcortically and eventually enter the wood of dead or dying *Quercus*, with development spanning one to three years. Adults may be observed directly on host trees or beneath loose bark.
