Overview

Xystrocera

*Xystrocera* Audinet-Serville, 1834 is a medium-large cerambycid genus (18–35 mm) with a predominantly tropical African and Asian distribution, reaching the western Palaearctic marginally in North Africa and the Middle East. The genus is closely associated with leguminous trees, particularly *Acacia* and *Albizia*, where larvae develop subcortically before entering the sapwood. *Xystrocera globosa* is a notable pest of *Acacia* plantations. Adults are strong fliers, active mainly from May to August, and are attracted to freshly dead wood and UV light.
