Overview

Cherochariesthes

Cherochariesthes Breuning, 1943 is a small, monotypic Anatolian genus of robust longhorn beetles in subfamily Lamiinae, ranging from 15 to 28 mm in length. Adults are densely pubescent with cryptic coloration, likely aiding concealment on bark and woody stems of their oak hosts. The genus is associated exclusively with Quercus, with larvae developing subcortically and into the wood of dead or dying trees over one to three years. Flight activity spans May through August, at elevations between 200 and 1200 m in Turkey.
