Overview
Lobarthron
*Lobarthron* [auct., verify] is a monotypic Central Asian genus of the subfamily Prioninae, known from the steppe and semi-arid zones of Uzbekistan at elevations up to 1000 m. Adults are robust, dark-brown beetles of 15–30 mm, active nocturnally between June and September and strongly attracted to ultraviolet light. Larvae develop deep in the wood of dead or dying steppe shrubs over a prolonged period of two to five years. The genus is considered Near Threatened owing to its restricted range and specialised habitat requirements.
