Overview

Macroleptura

*Macroleptura* Nakane & Ohbayashi, 1957 is one of the largest representatives of the tribe Lepturini in the Western Palaearctic, with adults reaching 18–35 mm and displaying a distinctively tapered, often brightly coloured body. Adults are conspicuous visitors of flowers — particularly Apiaceae and Rosaceae — at forest edges and rides during the summer months from June to August. Larvae develop over two to three years in decaying stumps of deciduous trees, principally *Fagus* and *Quercus*. The genus spans Europe and East Asia, with a single species recorded from Europe.
