Overview

Neomarius

*Neomarius* is a small, monotypic genus of medium-sized longhorn beetles (5–12 mm) associated with oak woodlands across Central Asia. Adults are variable in coloration and may exhibit mimicry of other insects, adding to the visual diversity of this group. Larvae develop beneath the bark and into the wood of dead or dying *Quercus*, with development spanning one to three years. The genus is attracted to fresh dead wood and can be observed at UV light, making it a rewarding find for specialists working in riparian and floodplain forests of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
